A Sun pillar, also called sun column, photographed during an early flight from Rzeszow-Jasionka to Warsaw International Airport (Chopin) 24. 04. 2019. Also note the symmetrical rainbow lenghts, both left and right, giving the sighting the appearance of the fragmentary Sun angel. The flight, L03804, was operated by Getjet Airlines and the aircraft was Boeing B 737-400 LY-MGC (overall white). I took the photos from seat 3F.
Fascinating colours of the sky as well as breathtaking cloud shapes can be seen in a gallery devoted to clouds I photographed during the same flight. The Sun pillar, as well as other light phenomena, should not be confused with lens flares visible when photographing into a light source. Be careful while taking this kind of photographs and never look directly into any source of intensive light.
